Does fashion affect teenagers in highschool?

"i would not want to hang with any one who can't dress because it will make me look like a nut."
This is a common feeling of many teenagers among us. Over the years trends have changed tremendously. From Levis, to Cani jeans, to Hollister. ABercrombie, H&m,Hollister,Polo, if you ain't got this than your not following the latest trends. Does fashion truly affect a students identity in high school? This is a topic that I have decided to investigate.

From what i see teenagers classify themselves into different groups; popular(the highest), normal (middle/Unbarred)and weirdo's (uncool/picked on). Some members of these groups discriminate against each other. The main factor of this separation is fashion. People tend to hang with people who look and dress like them. Image basically changes your identity. If "south pole" is your whole wardrobe you are going to get teased, and if top notch clothing like "Abercrombie" is your whole wardrobe then you are going to be admired. This is just the way that it goes. I had interviewed someone from the "inn crowd" and the response that they gave me was; "don't wear old name brands because you will get clowned, I may even clown you." Which means that you will get teased and laughed at. Then I had interviewed some one from the "inn crowd." They acted like a witness and told me; "I see people every day get flamed because of what they wear. This means that they are harassed. Last I was in shock because I was able to hear from some one in the weirdo crowd who said; "I don't care about them people who are in the "inn crowd" they always got something to say about the clothes I wear (rocawear, south pole, and g-unit). This proves that clothing affects who you hang out with in school and how you interact with others.

From observations I can see that respect is something that many teenagers thrive on. There is a certain level of respect that many teenagers want. Some more than others. The main reason why many teenagers are self conscious about what they wear is because they want to be respected. " If I wear clothes that look a mess I would get get teased" This is what one teenager said to me and many other responses that were given to me were similar to this. One thing that many teenagers fear is humiliation and having a bad reputation. Rather than being known as a loser most teens want to be known as the ish, they want to be cool. " I would not want to be known as the dengy girl but as the girl who got lay's." This means that rather than have a bad image this person would rather have a decent image. For the most part many teens want to have a good reputation and want to be respected.

Fashion can represent a number of things. It can represent how a person feels, where a person is from , and also how much style a person has. Being that teens are young they want to really express their style. In high school it almost seems as if the ability to have your own style is a talent. " I don't just weare what I wear to fit in but I also wear it because i want people to see how I express myself." See I have also had many statements like this one. According to many teens in my school self expression can reflect on who you are, and your personalty. "It is not what you wear but how you wear it" In many cases there are people who turn things thet are a mess into something that is the best. In school these people are called trend setters. These people bend the rules of the trends and make their own. Also there are people who just don't care about the trends but just make themselves look good no matter what they wear. That is because your attitude can change it all. "Certain people can pull off certain things" said by a trendsetter in my class. This information proves that name brand does matter but only to a certain extent. Also it makes it known that in high school style is what really counts.

Here are a few tips for every teen currently enrolled in high school. If you are into name brands and want to be "inn" wear all of the latest trends and keep everything that you wear up to date. Wanna be a trend setter then wear all of your own styles and dress don'ts up into do's (be different). And if you dint care about fashion then be you and wear what you want. Remember your whole appearance depends on your attitude and confidence.

My step into maturity

How do you define maturity? I define it as a true step into adulthood. Vigorous amounts of traumatizing events have changed my whole attitude towards life. The ability to be polite to others lives within my soul. A new urge for a bright future has come along.

First and foremost, I have matured because of the events which have taken place. In the story “Marigold’s” by Eugenia Collier when Lizabeth’s family began to go through turmoil with the great depression her father began to cry. He felt the loss of his independence and broke into pieces. When Lizabeth had seen this she had changed. Compassion and understanding began to run through her veins. She no longer had the mind of a little girl. This displays an example of a traumatic change, something that happens and changes a person’s life forever. I had gone through something very similar to that. Through her years my mother physically displayed independent qualities until she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The moment that I saw her cry is the moment that my life had changed. I had stepped into adult hood.

After I received this maturity and responsibility a plan followed behind it. My future had become an important subject and my main focus. Dealing with these thoughts I knew that I had to make a change. Preparations had to be made for my main goal- college. My priorities had to change. No more playing around, or immaturity. My life became based upon my studies. Grades lower than an “A” became unacceptable and a “B” meant harder work. Dedication had been added to my vocabulary. Life took an aimless past and changed its path to the right direction.

Finally, I advanced on one of my qualities, the ability to be polite. During my childhood, I knew how to be polite and demonstrated some aspects of it but I did not have it down pact. A great deal of growth had to take place, just like in the story “Marigolds” where Lizabeth had to grow up. Much of the experiences in her life happened to me. Well spoken explains one detail of me because I can express the way that I feel with a variety of words. Professionalism describes my whole demeanour because I realize that there is a time and place for everything. Compassion is what really adds to this because I can embrace anyone in my blanket of care. Because of the fact that I have all of these abilities I appear very attractive in many people’s eyes.

From reading this text you now know the true meaning of maturity. You also have a great example of a person who demonstrates the meaning, me. In life events can change a person’s character and make them stronger. You have just seen how a little girl was transformed into a vibrant young woman.

In her shoes

She followed her heart from the start.
She thinks about it it wasn't smart.
She lives life with regrets.
When sje loooks in the past she never forgets.
A smile does not tell a thing.
Cuz inside her soul her sadness sings.
She prays to god that this will change.
But something within feels so strange.
The walls around her are built so high.
If this goes on they will touch the sky.
She needs some guidence needs some trust.
If tthis dont happen she will bust.
Her sun dont shine, her moon wont glow.
Some things in life we'll never know.
But what this girl is going through.
You'll never understand until it happens yo you.

We real cool poem review

Not much into fantasy, want something real, something that will leave you thinking then read this poem. It goes by the name “we real cool” and Gwendolyn Brooks created it. You will enjoy this poem for so many reasons. Rhythm in the poem was created through the use of grammar and vocabulary. A life like vibe was given off from it because of the use of reality. My mind was left wondering because of all of the conflicting parts.

First off, I was astonished by the lack of grammar and vocabulary used in this poem. Most of the sentences are written short, simple, and incomplete. “We cool” has the most length out of all of the sentences. Ever sentence begins with we ad none o the verbs are conjugated properly. As I look at this poem I feel as though the writer did this n purpose, it adds the meaning.

Another thing that made me chooses this poem as the use of reality. Because I am into realistic poetry I seek out events that relate to real life occurrences. This poem talks about cool people, people at the top, and have fun that end up living a short life. When I read this poem it felt as if I could see every thing going on through the writer’s eyes. “We real cool” and “we die soon” sum up the whole meaning of this poem. By adding these lines together pictures in my head began to pop up.

Last but not least, this poem had man conflicting lines that kept me locked into reading. The subtitle “seven at a golden shovel” conflicted with it’s self the most. In order to die at a golden shovel one must have lived large. But as the poem goes on it make me feel limited to two life styles. I could either live a long uncool boring nobody life or I could live a big time, cool, exciting life. When I finished reading I was left wondering what life style I would want to live.
Your taste for life like poetry will be satisfied the moment after you read this poem. You will have; a rhythm built upon grammar, reality that will grab you in and conflicting meanings that will cause uncontrollable thoughts. Best to believe you will be left lusting for more.

my nhd reflection

During NHD this year I had learned how to add historical context to my project. To me historical context was the hardest part but now that I learned how to do this NHD is a piece of cake. I learned that all work has to be completed through hard work, dedication, and determination. I really didn’t learn too much except more about my individual. Last year gave me a good head start so that I could know what is expected of me.
This year on my project I had really worked hard to get a. But that is not what I got instead I received an 88. I looked at the grading rubric and followed the procedures but some of my teacher’s marks did not match the standard of the rubric. I was angered. Some things that I can improve in my project are the clarity of the project. I had 2 glue stains and I needed to fix them.
This doesn’t even come close to the grade in which I scored for NHD last year.
Last year I received an A and I felt a though this years project was superior over last years project. In conclusion NHD is so confusing and I never want to do it again.I had better historical context than last year and also my project was more creative than last year.
